# Lock a connection to one company

> Lock a connection in Google Search Console, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Dinero or Business Central to one company, so every call from your AI keeps to it.

*[Læs siden på dansk](https://docs.consile.ai/portal/firmalaas.md)*

In five systems, one connection can reach several companies. A Google account can,
for example, have access to many websites in Search Console, and a Visma login can
see several Dinero organizations. Without a lock, your AI chooses the company in
each call.

An administrator can lock a connection to one company. Then every call on that
connection keeps to that company, and your AI cannot reach the others.

> [!NOTE]
>
> The lock is optional. A connection without a lock works as before. If a
> connection shows *No company chosen*, nothing is wrong.

## Systems with company lock

| System | A company is | In the dialog |
| - | - | - |
| [Google Search Console](https://docs.consile.ai/en/connectors/gsc.md) | A website (a property in Search Console) | *Choose website* |
| [Meta Ads](https://docs.consile.ai/en/connectors/meta-ads.md) | An ad account | *Choose ad account* |
| [LinkedIn Ads](https://docs.consile.ai/en/connectors/linkedin-ads.md) | An ad account | *Choose ad account* |
| [Dinero](https://docs.consile.ai/en/connectors/dinero.md) | An organization | *Choose organisation* |
| [Business Central](https://docs.consile.ai/en/connectors/business-central.md) (early access) | An environment and a company in the environment | *Choose environment*, then *Choose company* |

In Search Console, a property with a URL (for example `https://example.com/`) and
a domain property (for example `sc-domain:example.com`) are two different
properties.

The other systems have no company lock. In e-conomic, Uniconta and Shopify, for
example, one connection belongs to one set of accounts or one store.

## Typical use

An accountant or an agency has one login with access to many clients. With company
lock you can use the same login on several agreements and lock each agreement to
its own client:

1. Buy one more agreement for the system. See
   [Extra agreements](https://docs.consile.ai/en/portal/buy-a-connector.md#extra-agreements).
2. Connect each agreement with the same login.
3. Lock each agreement to its own client.
4. Add each agreement's own address in your AI, for example
   `https://mcp.consile.ai/dinero-2/mcp`.

Each agreement is then its own connector in your AI, and it only reaches the
client it is locked to. A locked agreement can also belong to a customer in
[Studio](https://docs.consile.ai/en/studio/customers.md).

## Who can lock

Only administrators can choose, change and unlock a company. A member sees which
company a connection is locked to, but has no button. If a connection has no
company, the bottom of the card says *An administrator can choose the company.*

## Where you see the lock

Open the connector in the [portal](https://app.consile.ai). On the **Connections**
card there is a line under each connected agreement:

| Line | Meaning |
| - | - |
| *No company chosen* | The connection is not locked. Your AI chooses the company in each call. |
| *Locked to \<name>* | Every call keeps to that company. |
| *Choose the company again* | The connection has been renewed. All calls are refused until an administrator has chosen the company again. See [After a new connection](#after-a-new-connection). |

An administrator has a button next to the agreement: **Choose company**, or
**Change company** if it is already locked. An agreement that is not connected has
no line and no button. If it says **Access revoked**, the agreement must be
connected again before you can choose the company.

Right after you have connected one of the five systems, the portal also suggests
locking the connection. The *\<system> is connected* page shows *The key
reaches several companies. Choose the one this connection should be locked to, and
every call keeps to it.* Click **Choose company** to open the dialog on the
connector's page, or **Go to connector** to skip it. If a member clicks **Choose
company**, the portal shows *An administrator can choose the company.*

## How to lock a connection

**1. Open the dialog**

Click **Choose company** next to the agreement on the **Connections** card.
The **Choose company** dialog says: *The connection to \<system> is
locked to the company you choose. Every call then keeps to it, and the
connection can be bound to a customer in Studio.*

**2. Find the company**

The list is fetched directly from the system with the connection's own
access. So it shows the companies the connected account can reach. Use the
search field (*Search by name*) if the list is long.

In Business Central you choose in two steps. First **Environment**, for
example Production or a sandbox environment. Then **Company** in that
environment. To go back to another environment, click it in your choices
above the list.

**3. Lock the connection**

Choose the company and click **Lock to this company**.

> [!TIP]
>
> The portal shows *\<system> is now locked to \<name>.*, and the
> agreement shows as *Locked to \<name>*.

### If the lock is not set

The dialog says why the lock was not set. Nothing has been changed.

| Message | What you do |
| - | - |
| *That company is already locked on another connection of the same system.* | The company is locked on another agreement. Choose another company, or unlock the other agreement first. |
| *The connection changed while you were choosing. The list has been loaded again.* | Someone connected the agreement again while the dialog was open. Choose the company in the new list. |
| *Connect the system again before a company can be chosen.* | The connection must be renewed before it can be locked. An administrator connects the agreement again. |
| *The connection is bound to a customer in Studio. Remove the binding on Studio's customers page first if the company is to change.* | The agreement belongs to a customer in Studio. See [Studio](#studio). |
| *The list could not be loaded from \<system>: \<reason>* | The system did not answer with a list. Click **Try again**. If it keeps happening, check that the connected account still has access. |
| *No companies are reachable with this key.* | The connected account does not have access to any companies. Connect the agreement with another account. |

## What changes for your AI

* **Every call keeps to the company.** If your AI asks for another company on the
locked connection, the call is refused, and nothing is fetched or changed. Your
AI is told which company the connection is locked to.
* **The list of companies shows only that one.** If you ask your AI to show your
websites, ad accounts, organizations or companies, it only gets the locked one.
* **Tools that cannot be limited to one company are hidden.** Your AI does not see
them on the locked connection and cannot call them. On a connection without a
lock they are there as before.

| System | Hidden tools on a locked connection |
| - | - |
| Google Search Console | None of 7 |
| Meta Ads | 11 of 39 |
| LinkedIn Ads | 28 of 64 |
| Dinero | None of 52 |
| Business Central | 1 of 5 |

See the lists on [Meta Ads](https://docs.consile.ai/en/connectors/meta-ads.md),
[LinkedIn Ads](https://docs.consile.ai/en/connectors/linkedin-ads.md) and
[Business Central](https://docs.consile.ai/en/connectors/business-central.md). Two examples:

* On Meta Ads, `update_status` and `update_budget` are hidden. On a locked
connection your AI therefore cannot change the status or budget of anything that
already exists. It can still create new things in the locked ad account.
* On LinkedIn Ads, 20 of the 28 tools are not available yet anyway.

In Business Central, your AI cannot page further through a long list on a locked
connection. It must narrow its lookup instead.

The **Tools in \<connector>** block on the **Tools** tab still shows the
organization's own choices. It does not change when a connection is locked.

### What your AI is told

The messages to your AI are in English. If it names another company, the answer
begins, for example, like this:

> *"This connection only serves \<name>, …"*

If it calls a tool that is hidden on the connection:

> *"This connection is locked to \<name>, and \<tool> cannot be limited to one company, so it is not available here."*

If your AI needs another company, it must use another agreement, or an
administrator must change the company.

## Change company or unlock

**Change company:** Click **Change company** next to the agreement. The dialog
opens with the current company marked *current*. Choose another one and click
**Lock to this company**.

**Unlock:** Click the menu (the three dots) next to the agreement. Under **Unlock
the company**, click **Unlock**. The *Unlock?* window says *The company is then
chosen in each call again, and the connection cannot be bound to a customer in
Studio.* Confirm with **Unlock**. The portal shows *\<name> is unlocked.*

After you unlock, your AI chooses the company in each call again, and the hidden
tools are back.

## After a new connection

If an administrator connects the agreement again, for example with **Reconnect**
or a link from your AI, the company must be chosen again. Until then it says
*Choose the company again*, and every call on the connection is refused. Your AI
gets the message:

> *"This connection is locked to \<name>, but its credential has been replaced since that was confirmed. An administrator must choose the company again in the Consile portal before it can be used."*

The page after the connection says *The connection was renewed, so the company has
to be chosen again before your AI assistant can use it. Choose the same company to
carry on with it.*

**1. Open the dialog**

Click **Choose company** on the page after the connection, or next to the
agreement on the **Connections** card.

**2. Choose the same company**

The dialog says *The connection was renewed, so the company has to be chosen
again. Choose the same company to carry on with it.* The previous company is
already selected. Click **Lock to this company**.

You can also choose another company. When Consile renews the access automatically
in the background, nothing happens to the lock.

## When the lock disappears or moves

The lock disappears when:

* an administrator disconnects the connection with **Disconnect**
* an administrator removes the agreement with **Remove the agreement**
* the subscription to the system ends.

> [!WARNING]
>
> If you connect the agreement again after the connection was disconnected, it is
> not locked. Your AI can then reach all the companies the connected account has
> access to, until an administrator has chosen the company again.

If you remove an agreement that is not the last one in the list, the last
agreement moves up into the free slot and takes over its address. If it is locked,
the lock moves with it, but the company must be chosen again. The agreement shows
as *Choose the company again*, and calls are refused until an administrator has
chosen the company. See
[Remove an agreement](https://docs.consile.ai/en/portal/buy-a-connector.md#remove-an-agreement).

## One company per system

A company can only be locked on one agreement in the same system in your
organization. The same Dinero organization, for example, cannot be locked on two
Dinero agreements. You can always choose the same company again on the agreement
that already has it.

The systems do not affect each other. In Business Central, a company and a copy of
it in a sandbox environment count as the same company when the copy has the same
ID.

## Studio

A connection to one of the five systems can only belong to a customer in
[Studio](https://docs.consile.ai/en/studio/customers.md) when it is locked. While it belongs to a customer,
you cannot change to another company or unlock it. The portal says *The connection
is bound to a customer in Studio. Remove the binding on Studio's customers page
first if the company is to change.* Move the agreement back to your own company in
Studio first.

After a new connection, you can still choose the same company again, even though
the agreement belongs to a customer. See [Customers](https://docs.consile.ai/en/studio/customers.md).
