# Connect ChatGPT

> Add a Consile MCP as an app in ChatGPT through Developer mode, on your own account or in a workspace.

*[Læs siden på dansk](https://docs.consile.ai/connect/forbind-chatgpt.md)*

Consile is a standard MCP server with login through OAuth, so you use the same
address in ChatGPT as in Claude: `https://mcp.consile.ai/<id>/mcp`, for example
`https://mcp.consile.ai/economic/mcp`. Each MCP you have bought is added as its own
app in ChatGPT with only its own tools, and you log in with your Consile login.

> [!NOTE]
>
> ChatGPT connects to MCP servers through **Developer mode** on chatgpt.com. It does
> not work in the mobile app. According to OpenAI, this applies today:
>
> * Business, Enterprise and Edu: full support, including tools that change data. An
> administrator or owner of the workspace turns on Developer mode and publishes
> the app to the workspace.
> * Personal plans: whether you can use Developer mode on your own account, and
> whether that also covers tools that change data, depends on your plan. Check
> OpenAI's guide for your plan.
>
> OpenAI regularly changes plans, menu names and steps, so some of the names below
> may look different for you. The menu names are given in English here. See OpenAI's
> guides
> [Developer mode and MCP apps in ChatGPT](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/12584461-developer-mode-and-mcp-apps-in-chatgpt)
> and [Add custom MCP server](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/custom-mcp-server).

## Find the address in the portal

Open the connector in the [portal](https://app.consile.ai), and copy the address in
the **Add it to your AI assistant** card. The same address is used in every AI
client. Right after a purchase, it is also on the **Subscription activated** page.
The Concierge address is under **Account** › **Settings** in the **Consile
Concierge** card. If you have extra agreements for the same connector (each
agreement is one connected account), agreement 2 onwards each have their own
address, for example `https://mcp.consile.ai/economic-2/mcp`. You copy it next to the
agreement on the **Connections** card, and each one is added as its own app.

## Your own account

**1. Turn on Developer mode**

Turn on **Developer mode** in ChatGPT's settings on chatgpt.com, for example
under **Settings → Apps → Advanced settings** or **Settings → Security and
login**, depending on the version.

**2. Create the app**

Go to **Plugins** (in older versions **Settings → Apps**), click the plus
button, and choose to add a custom MCP server (**Add custom MCP server**). Give
the app a name, for example "Consile e-conomic", paste the address as the
server's URL, and choose **OAuth** as authentication. Do not fill in a client ID
or client secret. If ChatGPT asks how it should register, choose dynamic
registration (Dynamic Client Registration). ChatGPT then registers itself with
Consile. Accept ChatGPT's warning, and create the app.

**3. Log in to Consile**

ChatGPT opens Consile's login. If you are already logged in to the portal in the
same browser, Consile uses that user and organization. Otherwise you log in the
same way as in the portal and choose your company's organization if you are
asked. Then approve that your AI client may act on your behalf at Consile.
Finally, ChatGPT fetches the connector's tools.

**4. Use the app in a conversation**

Choose the app in the chat field, for example by typing `@` and choosing it, or
through **+**. Then ask your question.

> [!TIP]
>
> ChatGPT can now use the connector. Repeat the steps with another address to
> add more MCPs.

## Business, Enterprise and Edu (workspace)

In a workspace, an administrator or owner creates and publishes the app. Each
employee then logs in themselves with their own Consile login.

**1. Turn on Developer mode**

The administrator turns on Developer mode in the workspace's settings
(**Workspace settings**).

**2. Create the app**

The administrator creates the app in the workspace's settings, pastes the
address and chooses **OAuth**. The administrator logs in to Consile when ChatGPT
asks for it, and waits until ChatGPT has fetched the connector's tools.

**3. Test and publish**

Test the app in a new conversation. Then publish it to the workspace.

**4. The employees connect**

The app is now available to the employees in the workspace. Each employee
connects the app and logs in with their own Consile login.

> [!NOTE]
>
> If a connector gets new tools at Consile, an administrator may need to update the
> app in ChatGPT before your workspace sees them. According to OpenAI, a published
> app on Business cannot be updated today, so it must be created and published
> again.

## Actions that change data

In Developer mode, ChatGPT asks for your confirmation by default before it calls a
tool that changes data. In a workspace, it also depends on the app's permissions.
Consile's tools are marked so ChatGPT can see which ones only read. Consile's own
safety locks apply on top. See
[Actions & guardrails](https://docs.consile.ai/en/essentials/actions-and-guardrails.md).

## Colleagues and access

The subscription belongs to the company, and your data source is connected only once
in the portal. A colleague does not need to buy the connector again. An
administrator invites the colleague under **Team** in the portal and gives them
access to the connector on the person's page. Each extra user costs 50% of the
connector's monthly price. If you have the
[Consile Studio membership](https://docs.consile.ai/en/portal/membership.md), the administrator gives the
colleague a membership licence instead, at half the price of the membership (see
[Membership licence](https://docs.consile.ai/en/portal/team.md#membership-licence)).

* If a user has not been given access at Consile, ChatGPT can still show the
connector's tools, but every call is refused with a message to ask an
  administrator for access under **Team**.
* If a user is on **Read only** in e-conomic or Uniconta, ChatGPT can still show
tools that change data if the app was created by someone else, or before the level
was changed. Consile blocks all write operations on the server for that user.

See [Colleagues and access](https://docs.consile.ai/en/connect/connect-claude.md#colleagues-and-access) under
Connect Claude, [Team](https://docs.consile.ai/en/portal/team.md) and [Pricing](https://docs.consile.ai/en/portal/pricing.md).

## If something does not work

* If login fails, or the app shows no tools, delete the app in ChatGPT, and create
it again with **OAuth** and empty client ID and client secret fields.
* If ChatGPT answers with a link to connect, your data source is not connected yet.
The link works for 10 minutes. You can also click **Connect now** on the
connector's page in the portal. You always connect Shopify in the portal, because
the store's domain has to be entered there.
* See also [Troubleshooting](https://docs.consile.ai/en/troubleshooting.md).
